There was plenty of buzz at Oscar time with two major galas hitting the Hub.

The Mass Film Bureau and Boston Film Festival got the action going at the Museum of Science. Boston area celebrities attending the event included:

Donnie Wahlberg (Saw II, Southie)
David Morse (Green Mile, 16 Blocks, Proof of Life)
Julianne Nicholson (Conviction, Little Black Book)

Ken Howard (Dreamer, In Her Shoes, and Crossing Jordan.)

Pat Moscaritolo, CEO of the Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau also received an award for his continued contributions to film and tourism.

On the other side of town, the State Room was holding the other big Oscar bash to benefit the Ellie Fund. Corey Feldman was the star of that party. Feldman was in town scouting locations for a potential movie in Boston.

Crossing Jordan - Feature of the Month

Rach and Jeff on the set

Recently, Boston Movie Tours took a trip out to LA to see the Hollywood side of well...Hollywood. We were lucky enough to get on the set of the hit Boston TV show Crossing Jordan. Crossing Jordan, starring Jill Hennesy and Jerry O'Connell recently celebrated its 100 episode.

So where is that morgue where all the autopsies are done? It's not in Boston. Universal Studios Hollywood has dedicated an entire building to recreating Boston including the morgue, offices and even the window with fake Boston behind it. But the producers do use the exteriors of a building on Court Street in the opening credits.

Old School Prom - Get Out Your Powder Blue Tux

When we heard about reliving the days of the 1980s cheesy movies and music while helping a great cause, we had to jump in as a sponsor.

The Old School Prom is the brain child of two guys who were sitting around one day and thought, "How great would it be -- as 20-something/30-something year olds -- to relive our high school prom... and utilize all the knowledge we didn't have at age 17 to make it the best party ever?"

Proceeds for the gala will benefit the families of the burn victims of Rhode Island club fire (The Station Family Fund).

  • When: Saturday, July 1st, 2006
