Filming Location of the Month: Dillons Russian Steam Baths

Talk about crazy coincidences. Dillons Russian Steam Baths in the Boston suburb of Chelsea, MA has never been used in a major movie.... and we are talking about the oldest Steam Bath in the U.S. (since 1885). But during a week in February, it was used for two separate films.

Both The Sopranos and Stiffs used Dillons as a filming backdrop. Seems the Russian Steam bath theme makes a popular hotspot for both of these mob related films.

Stiffs Filming Wraps Up

Movie Trailers outside Joe Tecces in the North End

Stiffs, a dark comedy starring Danny Aiello about the funeral home business, wrapped up filming last week in the Boston area. Due out in late 2006/2007, expect to see a lot of Boston as additional February locations include Allston, Watertown and the North End Bocce courts.

To celebrate, the cast and crew had a grand gala party at the Boston Harbor Hotel this past Saturday night (Feb 25, 2006).

The Sopranos Hits Boston

Photo: HBO

In February, The Sopranos made a little visit to Boston to film some scenes for the upcoming 2006 season. According to the Boston Herald, someone gets hit during that episode. But then again, when does someone not get murdered when the crew goes outside the Jersey area?

The producers grabbed some shots at Dillons Russian Steam Bath in Chelsea, MA. Could we see a hit similar to Mo Green's murder in The Godfather, when he was shot through the eye while getting a massage. Only time will tell.

Dirty Dancing with the Oakridge Boys

Thumbs up to William Lee, Oak Ridge Boys

Bill Medley w Jeff

On a recent trip to Nashville to promote Boston Movie Tours, co-founder Jeff Coveney got up close with several musical celebrities at a private event.

William Lee, Oak Ridge Boys. Lee is one of the core members of the Oak Ridge Boys and really does have one of the longest beards you'll ever see.

Bill Medley, Righteous Brothers. Bill actually brought out his very talented daughter for the "Time of My Life" duet. As well as having a career with The Righteous Brothers, Medley has had a successful career as a solo artist recording 14 albums including Grammy award winning "Dirty Dancing."
