Street Players filming @ Santarpio's

Street Players filming in the Back Bay

It looks like the film tax incentive is starting to pay dividends. Look for three different movies filming around Boston in May 2006 with many more unconfirmed in the works.

Gone, Baby Gone. As reported in the last newsletter, this is the big Ben Affleck directed movie that is due to start filming in late May. Ben's brother Casey Affleck will start in this flick about the kidnapping of a young child.

Street Players. This independent movie has been filmed on and off the past year with filming scheduled to wrap up in May. Street Players is a mafia crime drama set in Boston’s underworld. Boston filming locations have included the Back Bay and the legendry Santarpio's Pizza in East Boston.

On Broadway. West Roxbury native Dave McLaughlin started shooting this movie about a playwright who uses an Irish pub to stage his production in early May. New Kids on the Block's Joey McIntyre and Amy Poehler from Saturday Night Live are starring in this indie flick. McLaughlin also wrote the Boston movie Southie with Donnie Wahlberg.

Old School Prom - Get Out Your Powder Blue Tux

The Old School Prom is really picking up steam.

The Old School Prom is the brain child of two guys who were sitting around one day and thought, "How great would it be -- as 20-something/30-something year olds -- to relive our high school prom... and utilize all the knowledge we didn't have at age 17 to make it the best party ever?"

Proceeds for the gala will benefit the families of the burn victims of Rhode Island club fire (The Station Family Fund).

  • When: Saturday, July 1st, 2006
