If you have been to the movies lately, you may have caught the trailer for Boston’s big new blockbuster, The Departed, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and Jack Nicholson. Martin Scorsese and Warner Brothers is ready to bring this $90 million Irish mobster flick to a theater near you.

The word from some early previews is it rocks and should receive some Oscar nominations.

If you are living in the Boston area, look for some major publicity and star sightings in Septemebr and October.

Boston Film Festival
September 8-15, 2006

This is the Mac Daddy of film festivals in Boston and the organizers always find a way to land a sneak peak of a future blockbuster.

In the tradition of benchmark film festivals like Sundance, Venice, and Telluride, The Boston Film Festival has evolved over the past twenty-two years premiering such illustrious films as; Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Prime, Matchstick Men, and American Beauty.

So what is the big movie to make its debut this year? We will see but a few early candidates include:

Boston Film Night
Sunday September 17th

Highlighting local Boston films, the 3rd Annual Boston Film Night takes place at the Regent Theater in Arlington, MA. The Schedule……

  • First show at 5pm  (seating starts at 4:30) Includes Q&A with filmmakers and filmmaker reception.
  • Second show at 7pm (seating at 6:45)
  • After party starts at 8:30

Join the Cast of Game Plan

OK, let’s try it again.

During the spring of 2006, hundreds gathered at The Rack to be part of  The Rock’s new Disney flick, Game Plan. While practicing for his role as quarterback, The Rock ruptured his Achilles tendon temporarily shelving the movie.

But he’s back and the movie is schedule to start filming this fall. If you want to be one of the many thousands of extras, come to the open casting call.

  • When: Saturday, Sept 9th 10-4pm
  • Where: The Rack, 24 Clinton Street, Faneuil Hall, Boston
  • Shoot Dates: October 11, 18, 19, 20, 21, 23, 24 & Nov 1 (You don’t need to work all these dates, but it’s helpful!!)
  • Pay Scale: $75 for a 10 hr day, plus overtime Union Scale for SAG members

Father Ken and his wife along with guide Heather


Father Ken and his wife from Memphis took a recent tour on a rainy Sunday prepared with rain coats and umbrellas. “We love movies and didn’t want to miss the tour.” said the couple.

While not on vacation, Father Ken is busy marrying couples all over the Memphis area including Graceland, home of the king Elvis Presley.
