Actors, Directors, Producers and Politicians Gather for Film-Industry Press Conference
Launch of new Theater-On-Wheels tour at Fenway Park with 5% of revenue to benefit Red Sox FoundationBoston, July 17, 2006 – More than 30 film and tourism industry folks will meet today to celebrate the first 6 months of our state’s tax-incentive package and welcome the launch of Theater-on-Wheels.
The Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Massachusetts Sports and Entertainment Commission have co-sponsored the event in support of the tourism dollars generated by our burgeoning film industry, estimated between $80,000 and $120,000 each week in direct expenditures for our visitor industry.
Guests will arrive in the Commonwealth’s first film-industry specific motor tour Theater-on-Wheels. Owned by Boston Movie Tours, Theater-on-Wheels is a 2 ½-hour, multi-media ride throughout Greater Boston highlighting movies made in Massachusetts. Passengers enjoy the ride in style with 5 plasma TV’s that run clips of famous movies while touring film locations. A sample of the movies highlighted includes Good Will Hunting, Mystic River, Blown Away, and Fenway Park favorites Fever Pitch and Field of Dreams. To celebrate the outstanding history of Fenway Park in the movies, Boston Movie Tours will donate 5% of their 2006 fiscal year Theater-on-Wheels sales to the Red Sox Foundation.

Custom Theater-on-Wheels group tours are offered to the student, senior and corporate market. Tours are also available on a limited basis for smaller parties. Starting July 29, 2006, tours will depart on Saturdays at 1pm from The Rack located next to Faneuil Hall. Tours are considered charters so advanced reservations are required. Boston Movie Tours enables guests to ‘See Boston thru Hollywood’s Eyes’ by learning behind-the-scenes trivia about their favorite films, directors and actors. Boston Movie Tours offers daily walking tours of the famous Boston Movie Mile™ and “Theater-on-Wheels” tours on select dates.
