Image Over the summer, Martin Scorsese's Irish mob movie The Departed was filmed all over the Boston area. Starring Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jack Nicholson and Martin Sheen just to name a few, it has the potential to be the biggest Boston movie ever.

We were actually very lucky to be preparing for a tour when we noticed the crew filming a rugby scene on the Boston Common.  Rugby isn’t exactly a sport that is frequently played on the Common, but it was that day. BMT founder Jeff Coveney was able to grab a picture with actor James Badge Dale, famous for his roll in the hit TV show 24. Super nice guy.

We’ll see what actually makes the final cut, but filming locations included:

Boston Common Chelsea (Beacon St.) Logan Airport Charlestown Navy Yard Charles Street Cleaners China Town Quincy South Boston Boston’s Waterfront

Image Take a specialized vehicle around Boston to show guests all the famous movie and TV locations. Sound like a fun and innovative idea? We think so and from your feedback, you do too.

The City of Boston currently has a sightseeing moratorium on vehicle based tours done on a regular basis. Let's just say it hasn't exactly been easy for a small business like ours to break through this issue.

If you would like to help, please sign the below petition to support our bid to obtain a vehicle sightseeing license in Boston. Thanks so much.

Townies Filming to Start Soon – Think you are a Star?

Townies, a movie about the Irish mob in Charlestown is being written and directed by newcomer Mike O'Dea (Shamrock Films). It is currently in the pre-production stages. The buzz is building around Boston as casting began in September, 2005. Local Brian Worth from Average Joe Hawaii just landed a role.

O’Dea and Coveney recently sat on a panel on Lisa Brightman’s Inspire America to discuss Boston based movies. The show is due to air on public TV in Cambridge and Boston areas in the next few weeks.

O'Dea also provided copy of the script to Boston Movie Tours for review. Let's just say it's pretty darn good. Gotta love a good Irish mob movie.

Want a role? Check out the web site for the regular blog from O'Dea. You can even chime in on who should be cast.

In September, Lenny Clarke was in town doing a whole host of benefits. Lenny is Mr. Boston in terms of movies, comedy and charity. Besides being one of the stars in the Fox FX show Rescue Me, Lenny has appeared in numerous Boston movies such as Fever Pitch (Uncle Carl), Southie, What’s the Worst that Could Happen and Monument Ave.

At a recent benefit to support City Councilor John Tobin from West Roxbury, Lenny rocked the house with his humor. Pictured here with Lenny is one of Boston Movie Tours founders, Rachel Coveney. The folks over at the Dedham Community Theatre did a great job hosting the event.

Image If you like movie shorts, Kevin Anderton is your man. Kevin is putting on his second shorts film festival on Sunday, November 6th at the Regent Theatre in Arlington.

There are two shows. Check the web site for times. There is an after party that starts at 8:30 which is a good networking event for actors, filmmakers, and press people.

The event is FREE to attend but there is a VIP section that involves a $5 donation to help cover the cost of the event.

Check out site below. It's still work in progress so you may want to send Kevin an email.
